Last time you visited we talked about Murphy… Murphy’s Law to be exact and as a quick recap, for those of you who are lucky or young enough to not have met Murphy, Murphy’s Law states that what can go wrong probably will.  It really rears it’s ugly head most effectively right when you’re getting ready to make bountiful leaps ahead in your life.  Spotting Murphy is simple after the crime has been committed… have you ever felt like you took a step forward only to take two steps back?  YEAH?  Well… that’s Murphy!

But as always… there’s good news… Murphy is only as powerful as you allow him to be… You see Murphy can be stiff armed, held at bay, and even completely eliminated from your life (at least it’ll feel that way).  Here’s how!

You see Murphy doesn’t prey on everybody.  You’re probably already aware of this as you may know or have heard of people who seem to piss excellence and sweat greatness… Everything they touch appears to turn to gold.  Ring a bell?  Well Murphy doesn’t bother these people because he’s just not interested, it’s not worth the hassle.  Murphy preys on people with the following characteristics (see if you can recognize any of them) … they are the ignorant, the unprepared, and the wimps.

Some of us are and/or have been all three at once and that’s when life really brings the pain… So lets look at these characteristics one by one…

First up IGNORANCE:

Now before anyone gets bent out of shape or throws a tantrum… This is not an insult to anyone’s intelligence.  In fact ignorance is just a state of unknowing or being unaware and has nothing to do with the ability to be in the know or aware.  Most people just don’t know Murphy is out there.  They don’t see the duality of life… Prime example… The Good Book says that after a feast there’s a famine… everybody has heard what goes up must come down… or no?  So then why were so many people shocked, surprised, and in AWE when they began to lose “value” in their already record high priced houses?  That’s because they let Murphy move into that extra bedroom they built with that good ‘ol HELOC!

There will be times where you’re just going to ignorant on somethings… but see Murphy doesn’t really care about that.  He’s strikes when your ignorant about things your highly vested in…  So don’t go all in unless your fully aware of what you’re getting yourself into.

Ignorance leads right to being UNPREPARED!

They could probably be in the same category but I know for a fact that there have been times in my life when I was fully aware and KNEW that I needed to replace the tires on my car soon… Did I put money aside to purchase a new set?  Of course not!  I just kept putting it off and right around the time I needed to pay for some dental work, tuition, and rent was due and guess what!?  Tire blew out!  You see Murphy loves people who procrastinate and don’t prepare for non emergencies… Yeah you heard that right… a tire blow out isn’t an emergency.

Look the moment you buy new tires should leave you a clue… Tires don’t last forever!  They will need to be replaced at some point so prepare for them.  Christmas comes around the same time of the year on the same day as it always has and always will so quit acting like it’s an emergency.

We are in a new economy and the premise of J.O.B. security is long and gone.  I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU DO… IF YOU HAVE A JOB YOUR LIFE IS IN SOMEONE ELSE’S HANDS!  SO what are you doing to make sure you’re not on Murphy’s hit list?

Now on to the WIMPS!

These are absolutely Murphy’s favorite victims.  These are the people who cry, moan, and complain about their circumstances.  These are the people who quit when things get a bit tough.  These are the people who will never take responsibility for what happens to them and these are the very people who will make excuses as to why these rules don’t apply to them and people just don’t “understand”.  Sound familiar?

You see Murphy loves these people because just like everybody else Murphy loves to laugh and he loves entertainment, and it’s the wimps that provide the best show.  They are easily persuaded and moved… you can say just about anything to them and they’ll give up on their dreams.  Now if you look at the people who make things happen… well there you go… they MAKE things happen.  They don’t don’t complain, bitch, or moan…  they take responsibility for where they are in life and make decisions to get themselves to where they MUST be.  Murphy HATES these people because they can’t be shook and no matter how many times he hits them they keep going.  (Check out the GET INSPIRED page for help in this area)

MURPHY REPELLENT INGREDIENTS:

Mix 1/4 cup of awareness, 1/4 cup of preparation, and an overflowing 1/2 cup of courage to take your life in your own hands and you have the ingredients for Murphy’s Repellent.

I know this is very simplified and seems easy and that’s because well “It Is!”… BUT here’s the problem… it’s even easier to not be aware, it’s easier to not prepare and for some it’s easier to cower than to fight for your life…  AND MY FRIENDS YOU DESERVE TO FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE!  Seriously…
